You get to meet them at your first court appearence. Usually 3 weeks to 1 month after arrest. They are required to notify the inmate within 24 hours of being appointed, But they don't. You can't get a court appointed attorney to work for an inmate unless a state bar greivance is filed. Get ready for set offs.
