Tarrant County Jail

Pre-sentencing

Interview with DC, Keith, Joe, Heidi and Dillon

JM: Tell us about the pre-sentencing process:
DC: N/A
Keith: "GUILTY UNTIL PROVEN INNOCENT". The Judges, the DA's and the court appointed attorneys all work for "Tarrant County". You don't get to meet your "court appointed" attorney until your first court appearance, usually three two to four weeks. You will also get your first plea bargaining offer then. If you do not accepy it, get ready for set offs. They make it a habit to leave you in their jail until you accept something. After being there for one to two YEARS they will offer time served to avoid trialsand get Tim Curry a conviction. The only way to get a court appointed attorney to do anything is to do the legal work yourself in the jail law library. Even then the court appointed attorney has to set it for a hearing and usually won't. The only way to get a court appointed attorney to do his job is to FILE A STATE BAR GREIVANCE.
Joe: i dont know much about that, parole violations dont have to mess with all that!
Heidi: don't remember much
Dillon: I saw a judge by video who told me what I was there for. No lawyer no court date set. Just sitting in limbo.

JM: Did you have police stop by your house for questioning?
DC: No
Keith: No. And the only reason they would ask you questions is so you will incriminate yourself. It's best to refer them to your attorney.
Joe: oh yea, many times,no questions! just busted!
Heidi: no
Dillon: The came to the house to arrest me.

JM: What was your court appearance like?
DC: I went to court 2 days after I was arrested. I had a judge that did NOT play. No talking, no gum, dress nice, and no backtalk.
Keith: Manipulated. The Judges, the DA's and court appointed attorneys are AGAINST you and work for "TARRANT COUNTY". They try to heard as many people through court as possible. There own websites show over 11,000 cases a month. That's 20 working days. 550 a day.
Joe: n/a parole.
Heidi: very scary
Dillon: As above by video. No information of any use provided.

My husband is in tarrant county. It says his bond is zero. What does that mean? Does he have to sit there until he gets a court date? How long does it take to get a court date? This is all very new to me, never been through this before.

my hubby was already sentenced to 4yrs for probation violation. He took a plea strongly encouraged by court appointed lawyer. He completed 6.5 yrs.and had 1.5 yrs left on his probation. He caught a misdemeanor charge and that violated him. my question is Is it too late to file a state bar grievence? because his court appointed attorney didnt do anything. My hubby didnt see her until the morning of court and she didnt have a clue to what was going on with my hubby case. If it,s not too late to file a grievence, how do I file one?

A State Bar Grievance is used to solve problems between attorneys and clients. It will help if your attorney is not doing his job. Usually, court appointed attorneys tend to put much less effort into a case. They work for money too. So, whoever pays them is who they favor.

Tarrant County Jail system is corrupt. Judges, DA's and court appointed attorneys are all coworkers. Often court appointed attorneys will not work for the inmate unlessed forced by the state bar. The office of attorney appointments will not even provide a list of court appointed attorneys. The are protecting them. The only reason Tim Curry has a 90% conviction rate is because they keep inmates in jail with constant set offs until an inmate has been there for a year or two and then they offer time sevred. Of course someone who has been locked up for two years will take it. Giving Tim another conviction.

You get to meet them at your first court appearence. Usually 3 weeks to 1 month after arrest. They are required to notify the inmate within 24 hours of being appointed, But they don't. You can't get a court appointed attorney to work for an inmate unless a state bar greivance is filed. Get ready for set offs.
